Merry New....whatever...eaten all the mince pies yet? I've got four left, all mine because LJ doesn't eat them. Consumed enough? Still enjoying those socks you were bought? That's an old 'joke', but perhaps people do still get socks for Xmas. And a cheap box set of smelly stuff for the girls, of course. Right, that's sexual stereotyping out the way. 

Here's me trying to look clever outside a cafe....in Crouch End...where a lot of clever people live...so I always feel like an imposter who expects to get found out any minute and kicked out (or rather, gently encouraged to leave) by the middle-classes. With that in mind, I laid these things out on the table in order to deceive them all....

Horror mixes...remember them? As I was saying to James Robert Moore this afternoon, they got done to death and I was one of the people doing it three or four years ago. I suppose people still make them. People are always still making things...like drum 'n' bass tunes...and hand-woven baskets. Here's one of mine, anyway...

Not done one for a while so I returned to the virtual decks (to think, I used to transport physical versions around town - oh that seems so long ago). William Burroughs Birthday Tribute

William Burroughs was born 100 years ago today. If there's a hell below he's down there for being a queer junkie who attacked the religious establishment along with every other, but there isn't, so he's not. From the literary bomb that was The Naked Lunch through the cut-up trilogy of the 60s to The Third Mind (with Brion Gysin) and beyond he tore up literary conventions. Essayist, tape manipulator, artist, he was counter to even the counter culture that embraced him.

Another treat for lovers of deep listening, unless you prefer Beyoncé, in which case, what are you doing here? Something of an acousmatic thread runs through this, although other musics feature, such as The Haxan Cloak, who I accidentally omitted from the listing. His 'Dieu' appears after 'Intensites'. No mix is ever perfect just as a work of art is only ever abandoned, as Jack Vettriano or some other great artist said.

Infini - Mixcloud Sonic Collage

The latest mix, which took me what felt like several lifetimes to create because I couldn't seem to find the right tunes to fit alongside each other or determine the overall tone of this sonic collage masterpiece (ha!). In the end I opted for a certain mood (well, one emerged, anyway) which is eclectic within certain bounds and once again features Sun Ra, along with other firm favourites such as Bernard Parmegiani and Mort Garson. The albums which put Bill's words to music during his later years, when he'd become well and truly trendy again, are OK, but none truly create the kinds of sonic moods I think he deserves.
