Gelbart- Preemptive musical offerings to satisfy our future master

....really is a tremendous record
funny
ingenious
inventive.....
I dunno why Adi Gelbart isn't regarded as a genius.......perhaps he is by a few, but I mean internationally....with regular news bulletins announcing his genius.....................that sort of recognition.........
well I'll do my little bit to further the cause..........spread The Message.............which just happens to be the title of track 11 and I've not heard a finer homage to Space-Age Pop, combing as it does an atmosphere of easy swing and bubbly synth.................or Harpsichord automata's chirpy, bonkers 60s feel, fit for the sped-up section of bad film filled with beautiful babes running around the lawn of a manor on the Thames......the album's so full of 'new astronautic sounds' that Peter Thomas wouldn't be ashamed to have his name attached but as it is Gelbart plays everything....and in the hands of lesser talents it might just all be lightweight pastiche but Gelbart's compositional and arranging skills save it from being so.................the momentum of March of the thinking machines is a joy, made more so by the bongo touch and build up a the mechanical marching band..................for a touch of noir (in title at least), there's The Big Sleep; again made rich by the horns, which also echo Moondog, a harpsichord, but also some glitchy drum patterns, thus managing, miraculously, to create a little retro-modern masterpiece....wonderful...
