Julien Temple's film for the BBC, aired last night. His eye for apt footage (as usual) makes this a great piece of work, telling the social story of Covent Garden (home of The Roxy) and the state of things in '77. More than mere nostalgia for some of us, it shows how little things have changed regarding the core issues of 'economic strife' and the pessimism felt by people. But where are the young rebels today?
Glad to know you enjoyed it! We recorded it last night and only got a taster of the first ten mins or so this morning (which looked as good as I had naturally hoped) - so I'm really looking to watching it all over the weekend....
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll enjoy it, C, even if you're a little too young to remember it.
