ZFAMP (zoviet*france and Fossil Aerosol Mining Project) - Patina Pooling (alt.vinyl)

...................this steel beast makes PIL's Metal Box look like a novelty corporate exercise......

...........I mean...look at at............................two rough cut slabs of cardboard as inner packaging..............?

................'laser-etched', whatever that means................etched by laser, I suppose..........the record sleeve as a work of art................I think.......................it's beautiful.........'careful, the rust falls off', said the guy in the record shop...................

.....now it sits in the room.............monolithic............of course..................impossible to ignore.....................I note how it's surface changes according to the light in the room...........does it hold the secret of the universe? Should I dance around it, yabbering like one of Kubrick's monkeys?...................................

.........................................the music by zoviet*france and Fossil Aerosol Mining Project perfectly mirrors the burnt bronze surface....the sound of erosion...........................is something there? or not there? what's absent seems to mean more than what's present...........................the click of a needle stuck in a groove.................the constant ebb and flow.................it's beyond 'ambient', yet despite being haunted, way beyond Hauntology....................no nostalgia riffs or rural paganism....................and the wound-back voice (Put out in Silence) does not, in this context, sound clichéd................(I only hope it's urging listeners to sacrifice babies....in the woods.......at an alter containing the steel beast......)......................................what's that? something like a sub-bass (Kinesic Remnant 1987)......for a while, the sound is earthed, albeit by the inconsistent throb...................mostly, it's surface, that steel surface again.....................corroding sound.......................the ebb and flow of sound.............
